Our Story
Scentara began as a dream between two friends in a small Kampala apartment — to create fragrances that celebrate Uganda's extraordinary natural richness and place it on the world stage.
Our Origin
It started in 2018 when co-founders Nalukwago Aisha and Mutebi David returned from studying perfumery in Lyon, France. Armed with knowledge of classical French technique — and a deep love for Uganda's botanical richness — they set up a small studio in Kamwokya, Kampala.
Today, Scentara works with over 60 local farmers across the country, from vanilla growers in Mbarara to coffee cultivators in Mbale. Every bottle is still hand-blended in our Kampala studio.
What We Stand For
Every fragrance tells a story from our land — forests, gardens, markets, rivers. We don't imitate; we celebrate.
We pay fair prices to our farmers and artisans, and invest 5% of profits into agricultural training programmes.
No synthetics where naturals can serve. No shortcuts in blending. Every bottle passes a 12-point quality check.
We harvest mindfully, never taking more than the land can regenerate. Our packaging is 80% recyclable.
Our perfumers trained internationally but create locally — bringing world standards to African fragrance.
We run free workshops in Kampala schools, helping the next generation discover the art of fragrance.
Our Journey

How We Work

We visit our partner farms across Uganda to select only the finest raw materials — by hand, with care.
Our perfumers develop each scent through dozens of iterations over weeks or months until it's perfect.
Every batch is tested for longevity, projection, and scent balance before bottling begins.
Filled, sealed, and labelled by hand in our Kampala studio. Each bottle is inspected individually.
Packaged beautifully and sent to your door — with same-day delivery in Kampala available.
